Velkommen til Alaska Úlfheðnar

Alaska Úlfheðnar is a registered Alaska nonprofit corporation and charitable organization, established in 2025 under the laws of the State of Alaska. We are dedicated to rekindling ancestral wisdom, strengthen community through cultural and spiritual practice, and guide individuals toward balance, belonging, and purpose in the modern world.
Rooted in northern tradition yet grounded in contemporary life, Alaska Úlfheðnar operates as a charitable and educational organization—offering outreach, guidance, and public programs that return the value of heritage, culture, and shared humanity to everyday living.
Alaska Úlfheðnar is recognized as a charitable organization by the State of Alaska, and has applied for federal 501(c)(3) status with the U.S. Internal Revenue Service.
Beneath northern skies where the aurora dances and the rivers remember their old songs, The Traveler’s Rune carries word of our shared journey — a chronicle of healing, of culture reborn, and of community rising once more around the firelight. Each week’s rune is a marker on the path, a whisper from the winds that shape us, and a reminder that we walk not alone, but together through story, spirit, and service.

Here you will find tales from the hearths of the north — reflections from the Runes of Resilience, voices from Aurora Winds, and teachings woven through our shows:
Whispers of the Norse, Belysning, and Spörgsmal. You’ll glimpse the hands and hearts that keep the fire alive: our nonprofit’s works, the elders’ wisdom, and the small triumphs that bind our circle across every village, city, and distant shore.

This is not merely a newsletter. It is a waypost — a rune cast into the world each week — guiding those who seek balance between the ancient and the now.

The Guidance of the Runes

When the veil thins and the night wind sings through the pines, we cast the runes and listen for the old voices. Each stave falls like a spark from the forge of fate—guidance from the ancestors, omen and counsel for the week ahead. Step into the circle, breathe deep, and let the stones speak.

Lorehall — Teachings from the Hearthfire

Can Science and Spirit Agree?

Truth is not divided into hostile camps. Spirit asks for meaning; science asks for method. When you invite them to sit at the same table, both can feed you. Begin with humility: let each speak in its own language. If your body calms during prayer, that is data. If your heart steadies after a morning walk, that is also data. Measure what matters—breath, sleep, kindness, steadiness—and let the sacred supply the why while the measurable guides the how. Hold a simple ritual of agreement. Place two bowls on your altar. In one, a stone for what endures—the sacred. In the other, a small ruler or string for what can be measured—the method. Light a candle and say: “I consent to learn from both.” Then choose one practice to test for seven days: gratitude before meals, three slow exhales during conflict, one act of service. Track the results in a small notebook. Science calls this observation; spirit calls it witness. When conflict arises—when a study mocks prayer or a believer shames inquiry—refuse the false choice. Ask, “What fruit does this bear?” Wisdom measures outcomes: more courage, more compassion, more repair. If a belief produces contempt, prune it. If a metric produces cruelty, set it down. The right marriage of spirit and science grows a kinder life. Invite counsel. Speak with a healer and a clinician; ask each how they would care for you. Weave their answers. Drink water. Take medicine. Keep ceremony. Call a friend. Let your healing be braided rope, not a single thread that snaps. Finally, remember that mystery remains. The sky is mapped and still opens us in awe. Let the unmeasured room remain in your house. Go there when the numbers are done. Light the candle, breathe, and say thanks for a universe that is large enough to study and tender enough to love. That is agreement.

How do I reconcile evidence-based thinking with spiritual practice without feeling fake?” — Noah, MA|

S2E217 – Bifröst Boundaries

S2E217 – Bifröst Boundaries

Under the arch of Bifröst, we turn “boundaries” from a fuzzy idea into a felt skill. Start with the Shield-and-Bridge warm-up: feet hip-width, palms over ribs, inhale to widen (shield expands), exhale to narrow (bridge focuses). Use a 4–2–6 cadence to teach the body that saying “no” can feel safe, not sharp. Then map one real boundary across nine breaths: three to sense your yes/no (root), three to voice a one-sentence limit (trunk), three to picture it held with kindness (crown). When guilt or second-guessing swoops in, greet the ravens again—Huginn (Thought) and Muninn (Memory)—and practice defusion: “That’s Thought; thank you,” “That’s Memory; noted,” then ride one long out-breath. Runes for tonight: Algiz (protection) and Tiwaz (direction). Pocket practices: (1) Hand-to-heart + 4–2–6 before you answer; (2) The “One Clean Sentence”: “I’m not available for that; here is what I can do.” (3) Doorway drill: every time you touch a doorknob, take one slow out-breath and recall Algiz. This is boundary-setting as nervous-system care: less bracing, more clarity. Not exile, but alignment—so your yes stays bright and your no stays kind.

S2E216 – The Veil of Samhain

S2E216 – The Veil of Samhain

The Veil of Samhain — This episode lingers with the words themselves, listening for what they carry and how the phrase has moved through memory and imagination. We consider tone, cadence, and image: the way a name can open a door to landscape, to story, and to the quiet corners of character. Rather than pointing outward for we hold close to the title and read it like a map, letting its contours suggest questions about courage, restraint, loyalty, and the kinds of strength that remain steady when the noise fades. The aim is simple: stay with the language and notice what it evokes. We look at echoes in history and literature—moments when similar phrases surfaced to mark turning points or to signal a threshold between what was and what may be. Titles endure because they condense meaning; they gather places, seasons, and choices into a few deliberate words. Paying attention to those words can reveal contrasts: light and shadow, shelter and exposure, solitude and kinship. These contrasts are not puzzles to solve but lenses that clarify what matters. By keeping our gaze on the title itself, we refuse distraction and settle into substance. Language shapes expectation. A title can steady the hand, temper haste, and invite a longer horizon. It can remind us of limits worth honoring and promises worth keeping. It can also unsettle us, in the best way, by exposing assumptions that need review. When a phrase carries that much weight, it deserves patience. We spend time with metaphor and texture here—asking how sound, rhythm, and image work together to leave an imprint that lasts beyond a single listening. The question beneath the question is always the same: what does this name require of us? In closing, we step back to see the full silhouette of the title. What feelings does it steady? What boundaries does it clarify? What stories does it call to mind, and what futures does it suggest? The value of this reflection is not in urgency but in depth. A well-chosen name is a compass—it does not push, it points. Our work in this.

Footprints on the Path

Carrying the work into homes, schools, and gathering halls.
Between the firelight and the treeline, our work leaves quiet marks—stones set in frost, threads tied where wind once wandered. These are the small signs of a greater making: filings and letters, hands and hours, captions and care. Follow these tracks with us, and you’ll see how the road becomes a road at all—one steady step, then another, toward the good we vowed to build.

Outreach — The Call Beyond

Beyond the circle of firelight, the world waits in quiet need. The Call Beyond is the voice that bids us rise — to carry our healing, our stories, and our compassion into the villages, the classrooms, the gathering halls, and the unseen corners of our communities. Every act of outreach, every conversation, every offering of presence is a way of answering that call — so that what we remember together may also mend the world beyond us.
Bring a circle, talk, or workshop to your community.
Libraries, schools, shelters, and nonprofits - let's build something together.
Hands to carry the fire—occasional or ongoing.
