As we seek to understand the influences that we have experienced, as well as the experiences we’ve yet to have, we search for an answer as to what force we must keep in reserve to help us on our path toward our destiny. To visualize these influences and counter-energies, we will call upon the layout of the “four winds” that we may learn of our adversaries and allies in our mental battle for safety.

Algiz – “Its psychological meaning is a state of listening, higher self, and divinity. Its energy is Valkyries, the divine plan, protective teaching force. If Algiz appears in divinations, it could mean protection, higher life, awakenings, or connection to the gods.

Present Influences

Thurisaz (Inverted) – “Psychologically it represents male sexual prowess, struggles against unconsciousness, and enthusiasm. Its energy is destructive storms, breaker of resistance, active defensive force, chaos, self-empowerment, and enthusiasm. When Thurisaz appears in a divination reading, it means constructive conflict, regenerative catalyst, vital eroticism, directed forced, or reactive force. When it appears reversed, it means strife, annoyance, explosive violence, disease, dullness, betrayal, compulsion, defenselessness, or danger

Jera- “If Jera appears in divination, it means timing, proper, peace, plenty, and reward for positive action

Each morning, I engage in prayer, or communion with my gods. Each day they offer me wisdom and knowledge, and in return I offer them myself that they may do with me that which they need to. I have felt the gods manage my engagements throughout the years, and especially lately, engaging me in a multitude of ways. Today, I offer to you that which was told to me by the gods in this morning’s prayers. 

To reveal the influences of our past, we have drawn Algiz. Today, Algiz represents the state of listening. Hearing the whispers of our past teaching us the lessons of growth of consciousness. Typically, Algiz indicates that we are awakening from our mindless existence of succumbing to the fates and beginning to initiate the control of the emotional energies that drive our perception of reality. Our experiences now connecting to energies of the deity’s, and a concentrated effort to achieve a higher form of life.

Our present influence is that of Thurisaz, which today issues caution of our emotional control from the past. Today, Thurisaz issues us warnings about carrying some of those negative energies from our past in into our present and beyond. Cautions about strife we have caused or been the recipient of that cause, disease, explosive violence, even only in word. These are negatives of our past that it would be good to control and remove from our focus. We are in control. This should become our mantra moving forward. I control how I feel.   

To reveal our future influences, we have drawn Jera, the rune of the seasons. As we move into our future, embracing the experiences of our physical life, we need to remember that everything has a season. We will be prepared by our previous experiences for the new ones that we have by a collection of sources. This preparation will only allow those experiences that adhere to these previous experiences, as we will not be exposed to experiences that we are not ready for yet. Remembering that each experience we have will enter into our lives when we are ready to handle the emotional signatures applied to the energies.

To understand what influences we should retain, we have drawn the rune Ehwaz. Today. Ehwaz reveals the necessity to trust in oneself. When building bridges of trust to other positions within the cosmos we must remember that our destination will only materialize when we have built this bridge from an origin of trust. In other words, we need to have trust in ourselves to establish it to something, or someone else. It is critical that we remember that our point within the cosmos ensures that we must work at building our end of the bridge within ourself first
