We keep our oath in daylight: protect people, culture, and trust. Below are the house laws—plain rules for how we work, how to raise a concern, and how we make it right.

Non-Clinical Wellbeing

Our work is cultural and educational. We walk beside, not above. Nothing here is medical/mental-health, legal, or financial advice. If you’re in crisis, contact local emergency services or 988 (U.S.).
• Consent first; you choose pace, depth, and stop.
• Sliding-scale is offered; no one turned away.
• Clear boundaries; safeguarding is everyone’s job.

Cultural Protocols & Safeguards

We teach and share with reverence and care.
• No exploitation of story, symbol, or person.
• Name sources where known; mark reconstructions where used.
• No rites are performed in public media spaces.
• Minimize identifiers in sensitive narratives; ask consent for reuse.

Accessibility

We aim for WCAG 2.1 AA where feasible.
• Semantic structure, alt text, contrast, keyboard access.
• Captions/transcripts for core media as resources allow.
• Reasonable accommodations upon request.

Privacy & Retention

We collect only what we need to operate, respond, and improve.
• Controller: Alaska Úlfhéðnar. Processor: AKUMedia (DBA Alaska Outlaws LLC).
• Usage logs ~90 days; inquiries retained as needed for response/records; newsletter data until you unsubscribe or request deletion.
• No sale of personal data; limited sharing with service providers under contract.

Remove / Redact

If you appear in our materials and want content removed or anonymized, email remove@akulfhednar.org with:
• URLs and description of the material.
• Your relationship to the content.
• What you request (remove, blur/redact, anonymize) and why.
We balance requests against safety, law, ethics, and the public interest. We confirm within 7 business days.

Safety & Escalation

We act quickly on safety concerns.

Email legal@akulfhednar.org with URLs, dates, and context.

We investigate, preserve logs, and take proportionate action.

We report illegal activity to appropriate authorities.

Conflicts & Related-Party

Governance rests with the nonprofit; AKUMedia provides technical operations under a Statement of Work.
• Directors/officers disclose conflicts annually and as they arise.
• Related-party transactions require recusal and independent review.
• Funding/underwriting never determines editorial content.

DMCA & Permissions (Media & IP)

We respect creators’ rights.
• DMCA notices (17 U.S.C. §512(c)(3)) → dmca@akulfhednar.org. Include signature, works, URLs, contact, good-faith statement, and perjury statement.
• Counter-notices allowed; consent to Alaska jurisdiction required.
