To reveal the influences of our past, we have drawn the rune of Thuriaz, in an upright position. The influences of our past indicate that the path that we have been traveling on has been given much constructive conflict, in that sometimes it has been difficult to say which way we are destined to travel. We also know that within our past lies the lessons of “reaction” versus that of “response”, in that we have learned that a little mindful exercise can help us achieve the mastery of our own emotional controls. We have experienced the understandings as to how we can draw in energy at which to heal, and know that loving ourselves in the key to rebuilding any lost self-esteem.
Our present influence is that of Uruz, and it is in an upright position. Uruz is a powerful rune, as it represents the “wild” cattle, or the untamed. Currently we are finding “luck” along our journey by discovering other sources of energy around us, and are truly embracing the understanding as to where our live is going, and just as importantly, which way we wish to travel. Uruz brings to us the energy of health today, so for those suffering with some type of illness or injury, now is the time to put this behind us mentally. Think well, be well. The casting of Uruz also brings strength and consistency, so we becoming committed to changing our lives for the better, as well as becoming more prepared to fight for it.
To further reveal our future influences, we have drawn the rune of Gebo and Gebo is always in an indeterminate position. Our future indicates that we are well on our way to clearly understanding the divine vision from whatever deity you connect with, knowing that you are receiving a magical interchange of ideas and energies. While Gebo speaks of sacrifice, it also tells us that this sacrifice is something good, like giving up a bad habit, or crushing doubt. This rune shows us that those who possess an understanding of true spirituality offer it without cost, for simply understanding the energy of existence is a gift of the gods.
To understand what influences we should retain, we have drawn the rune Berkanlo in an upright state. Berkano is a very powerful rune, as it offers us the understanding of sanctuary within the mind, liberation from the societal pressures that are attempting to influence our path. Some of the other tenants of Berkano is that of life-changes, becoming and birth. For years when I was in the monotheistic church I heard how people were “born again”. This understanding existed long before monotheistic practices infected the world. Coming into the realization that our spiritual life and our physical existence seek to be bonded is what this really represents here. As we join our two halves together, we will find the journey enlightening.
Today our runes speak of growth and learning. At the same time they show us that our growth path may not be as clean and orderly as others make it out to be. Sometimes the lessons we need to learn the most are the messiest, and can bring with them pain and anguish. However, you have to tools and understandings to compartmentalize these influences by connecting to the divine vision, and by using some cognitive thought, we can be liberated from those old thoughts of constant constructive criticism.
